College Consultant/ Essay Coaching
Each student we work with is different and requires different needs, approaches and timelines. The path after high school can be complex and emotional, and our individualized approach is still very relevant. The image here is one framework that can represent a range of one standard path. Some paths are not typical, and we will adjust any coaching to best fit the needs of the student and the family dynamic.
We love to engage in fostering ideas for the future and how those ideas translate to career paths.
We love to explore both short-term and long-term goals.
We love to help students "try-on" various types of schools to see what can be a good fit for the future.
We love to listen.
We love to explore the "other" routes!
We love to guide, encourage and explore during this time of questioning.
I don't currently publish a list of college acceptances that students have gotten after working with us. Part of me thinks this is taking a bit too much credit for the work that the students have done, and although we can certainly be very helpful and are very skilled at guidance towards acceptances, I do not create acceptances. However, I understand the need in this industry to showcase that I can help navigate competitive college lists, and I'm happy to have further conversation about any of that.
ESSAY COACHING
I love coaching students in their personal essay, and I am happy to work with students in just this aspect of their college application process! This application season (Spring to Fall 2024) I've assisted close to 75 students with their essays, and I've been blown away with what students have produced. I help generate, encourage, guide and inspire their ideas, and I help shape and organize them into a piece that will be well received in the current college admissions climate. I will charge by session and the number of sessions will fluctuate to what each student needs. The typical stages are: brainstorming, outlining, writing and proofreading, and I will assist in all or some of these areas, depending on the student.
